There were many things that made time at their house great…but one that stands out is the breakfasts. No matter when you woke up she would be up an hour earlier and have breakfast on a tray waiting for you to take to the sofa while you watch cartoons. CHILDREN EATING IN THE FANCY LIVING-ROOM, PEOPLE. If that is not the height of indulgence, I do not know what is.
Breakfast was a big meal there. Well, I guess they all were. In the morning we had french toast, winkies (one egg fried in the middle of a toast), oatmeal, “coffee” (mostly milk but served in china to make us feel grown up), sugared strawberries and one soft egg in an egg holder/warmer.
I loved this soft egg idea because all her egg holders were in different animal shapes. Or some were plain with a knit cover to keep it warm in the shape of a chick. I hardly ever see this done anymore.
Now that my children are old enough to appreciate a little presentation I started my search of a suitable egg holder.
