I painted the 1920s jacobean dining set tan and blue/grey to fit in with the 1963 modern house.
I like old furniture. More ornate and better quality wood/craftsmanship. But I like to paint it or change out the fabric to make it look updated and fresh. Sherwin Williams satin “Basket Brown” on the table and Valspar “oops” paint on the chairs. I love shopping the “oops” paint selection at Home Depot or Lowes for great deals on high quality paints.
Thanks to the advice of another designer on flickr; I removed all my area rugs and I have never been happier. Clean up is a breeze and I do not feel married to the excess pattern on the floor. I do not know why I thought I needed them?
