The home we purchased was built in 1963 and the original owners left this nifty dresser in garage.
I used contact paper to cover the top and side, painted in “green grapes” from ace hardware paint selection and painted the wood on the hardware and legs a gloss cream.
Love how it turned out! What do you think?

Gorgeous! Love it!
I like the green 100x more than that dark wood. Great redo
Thanks girls! My mom was like “Oh the dresser looks so nice in the dark wood….hmf. Mothers :)
Ah hiya, where did you get that AWESOME contact paper!?!?!?!?! I going madd surfing the net!!!!!!!

I love this! Can you please tell me where you found the contact paper? I’ve been looking everywhere for contact paper with a design because I have computer table that I got at garage sale that I want to redo. I’m reinspired after seeing your great project!

Happy hunting.
[...] pretty dresser makeover comes from nikol of decor scout. she purchased a 1963 home that happened to have this little wooden dresser sitting in the garage. [...]
I have never had luch with contact paper, did you go over it with any type of sealer? Just wondering how the contact paper will hold up over time
I have never had luck with contact paper, did you go over it with any type of sealer? Just wondering how the contact paper will hold up over time
I think it looks great for the style and period that it comes from
I cannot know how this will stand up over time….until time passes :) I can tell you I used a wallpaper tool to smooth it as I went and it seems to be a tight fit. I think having it wrapped around the sides and top works well because you are not seeing any edges.
Hi I was wondering if you used the window film contact paper for the top of the furniture. I was going to be doing the same thing but with regular contact paper but love the transparent idea much better! the only thing is I don’t want to be the design I want (which is labeled “window film” and it not go on the furniture right. Thanks!
I just got what seems to be this exact dresser for $5 yesterday!! I really love what you did to it – I think I’m going to just paint mine white and maybe add some green drawer pulls + mine has a mirror on it and I think I’m going to paint the mirror trim green! Cant wait
You stuck contact paper on a walnut mid-century modern dresser? Why not sell the dresser and buy a new piece instead of messing up a lovely collector’s piece?
Contact paper for the pressboard stuff, thanks I never thought of Target (across the street from me.)
Not Walnut! I wish. laminant.
Love the result!!!! Laminate?! I’ve been searching for an example of a painted laminate dresser! I have one and I’m wondering how to prepare it before I start. Did you sand before priming?
I’m really loving the theme/design of your blog. Do you ever run into any
browser compatibility problems? A handful of my blog audience have complained about my website not working correctly
in Explorer but looks great in Opera. Do you have any suggestions to help fix this issue?
Hi there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble
with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended
up losing many months of hard work due
to no backup. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?
